The IAPT is formed by the Philosophy of Time Society, the Centre for Time, the Centre for Philosophy of Time, the Society for Philosophy of Time, and the Irish Society for the Philosophy of Time.

The main purpose of IAPT is facilitating the exchange of information and collaboration in joint projects.

Under the auspices of the IAPT, a regular annual meeting on the state of the art in philosophy of time is held, rotating each year between Australasia, the US, and Europe.

Ninth IAPT Meeting

June 24-28, 2024
Lugano, Switzerland
The International Association for Philosophy of Time (IAPT) is pleased to announce its 9th annual conference to be held at Università della Svizzera Italiana (USI) in Lugano, Switzerland, on 24th–28th June 2024.
The local organisers are Damiano Costa and Cristian Mariani. The program committee is chaired by David Ingram. The conference is sponsored by Swiss National Science Foundation grants, Temporal Existence(Costa, SNSF Starting Grant, 211294), and Quantum Indeterminacy (Mariani, SNSF Ambizione, 208762).
The list of confirmed speakers include: Craig Callender, Kit Fine, Jenann Ismael, Tim Maudlin, Kristie Miller, Laurie Paul, Oliver Pooley, Thomas Sattig, Daniel Sudarsky, and Emily Thomas. More will be announced soon.
Call for Abstracts: the organisers request submissions of high-quality abstracts (500 words max.) of papers on the philosophy of time, broadly construed, suitable for 40-minute presentations. Abstracts should be prepared for blind review and submitted by email (as a .docx or .pdf file) to iapt9lugano@gmail.com by 31st January 2024, 12.00 pm (noon) GMT. The submission email should include your name, institutional affiliation, and the title of the paper (in the body of the email). Successful applicants will be notified and the full programme confirmed in April.

Eight IAPT Meeting

The Eight Meeting of the International Association for the Philosophy of Time will be held at the University of Sydney, Australia, from July 27 to July 30, 2023.

Invited speakers:Vallteri Artsila, Maria Balcells, Helen Beebee, Dan Deasy, Heather Dyke, Preston Greene, Christoph Hoerl, Dave Ingram, Nihel Jhou, Lisa Leininger, Cristian Mariani, Jonathan Tallant, Giuliano Torrengo.

The conference is supported by the Australian Research Council, the Wake Forest University Philosophy Department and the Thomas Jack Lynch fund.

We invite abstract submissions for the annual conference of The International Association for the Philosophy of Time. The conference will be held at the University of Sydney, Australia from July 27 to July 30, 2023. For up to 5 early career researchers with successful abstracts (including PhD students, and anyone who is at most 5 years out from their PhD) $2000 of funding each is available to defray the costs of attending the conference. Abstracts should be 500 words long and prepared for blind review. Please send your title and abstract as a PDF document to iapt8sydney@gmail.com by the 1st April 2023, 11:59pm AEDT (with your name, affiliation and the title of the paper in the body of the email and ‘Abstract Submission’ in the subject line). We expect successful applicants to be notified by 15th April.-
